Xing Yi Quan Kung Fu & Basic Self Defense Skills

Available in Western MA (Northampton & East St. Studios 47 East. St. Hadley) and New York City (Ripley Grier Studios 305 W. 38th St. Manhattan) by appointment, taught by Instructor Dan Reck with seminars by Senior Instructor Dixon Fung.

All students start with the basic skills program, students who are interested in XingYi Kung Fu which is more advanced, can start it at the same time.

Classes are private or semi-private (small group) in the vein of personal training which is traditional in Chinese martial arts and the best way to learn, classes are sometimes held outdoors (weather permitting). Students learn at their own pace according to their goals, strengths & weaknesses.

Most of our students focus on the self defense aspect, however if you want to just do it for exercise or just do meditation thats fine too.

Contact is optional, however light to medium contact is necessary if you want to be able to defend yourself, hard contact is not required unless the student is training for full contact competition, and we always aim to train safely to preserve & improve the body's condition not damage it. Boxing gloves are used mostly in the basic skills phase or when doing harder contact.
